The reason for this publication is the spectacular installation that Havermans realized in Heerlen on SCHUNCK’s modernist monument, the Glaspaleis. What is possible with a monument that seems to have definitively acquired its position in the contemporary architectural discourse? How does a city deal with its history? What is the potential for the future?

The design, creation and production process of this fascinating construction is discussed. In addition, four transition installations are discussed that are substantively related to this installation associated with Heerlen.
