Great to be nominated for the Architecture Prize Nijmegen 2017

Jury report; KAPKAR / SF-P7S:
‘The building stands out in the list of nominees, in terms of scale and budget it is many times smaller than the rest and could therefore quickly fall between the wall and the ship in the assessment. But that is not the case. According to the jury, it scores high on almost all criteria. Certainly also with regard to social sustainability and circularity. Everything is right, the story and its elaboration is very strong. The characteristic elements of the historical environment have been beautifully translated. The jury praised the impact of the building compared to the very limited budget. Pleasantly surprising is the craftsmanship that is consciously sought here, from the supports to the ingenious window closures.’

‘Het gebouw valt op in het rijtje van genomineerden, qua schaal en budget is het vele malen kleiner dan de rest en zou daardoor in de beoordeling al gauw tussen de wal en het schip kunnen vallen. Maar daarvan is geen sprake. Het scoort volgens de jury hoog op bijna alle criteria. Zeker ook ten aanzien van sociale duurzaamheid en circulariteit. Alles klopt, het verhaal en de uitwerking ervan is zeer sterk. De kenmerkende elementen uit de historische omgeving zijn op een prachtige wijze vertaald. De jury roemt de impact van het gebouw in vergelijking tot het zeer beperkte budget. Aangenaam verrassend is ook het vakmanschap dat hier bewust gezocht wordt, van de dragers tot aan de vernuftige raamsluitingen aan toe.’
